Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are multipotent, self-renewing cells that can be used for the treatment of different conditions. HSCs can be found in adult bone marrow, peripheral blood, and umbilical cord blood. HSCs are capable of self renewal.
HSC from Umbilical Cord Blood
Umbilical cord blood (UCB), regarded as biological waste, is a great source for HSC. Cord blood collected from the new born goes into processing and cultured into HSC and cryopreserved. HSC is stored public bank at Prasad Research foundation for potential o be used by everyone(i.e., an unrelated recipient).
HSC derived from UCB has many advantages. The HSCs in cord blood may be less mature, there can sometimes be greater differences in the tissue match (HLA match) between the donor product and the patient recipient.
Indian Council for Medical Research has approved Hematopoietic Stem Cells in many conditions. The doctors have been using HSC extracted from patients in almost all the conditions which need cell replacements.
Prasad research foundation can supply clinical grade HSC extracted from umbilical cord blood to be used across different conditions as advised by the doctor.
